# How To Make:

01 - Line a 9x9-inch baking pan with parchment paper and lightly grease the surface.
02 - Divide marshmallows and butter into three equal portions, approximately 3 1/3 cups marshmallows and 1 tablespoon butter for each colored layer.
03 - Melt 1 tablespoon butter over low heat in a large saucepan. Add 3 1/3 cups marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Add red gel food coloring, a few drops at a time, until desired shade is achieved. Fold in 2 cups Rice Krispies cereal until evenly coated. Press the mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan.
04 - Wipe the saucepan clean and melt 1 tablespoon butter over low heat. Add 3 1/3 cups marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Stir in vanilla extract. Fold in 2 cups Rice Krispies cereal until evenly coated. Gently press the mixture over the red layer.
05 - Wipe the saucepan clean and melt the remaining 1 tablespoon butter over low heat. Add remaining marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Add blue gel food coloring, a few drops at a time, until desired shade is achieved. Fold in the remaining 2 cups Rice Krispies cereal until evenly coated. Gently press the mixture over the white layer.
06 - Sprinkle red, white, and blue sprinkles over the top while the treat is still slightly warm, if desired.
07 - Allow the treats to cool and set for at least 1 hour at room temperature. Lift from the pan using the parchment paper as handles. Slice into 16 equal squares using a sharp knife and serve.

  • Greasing your hands or spatula with butter instead of cooking spray gives you better control when pressing layers and prevents the sticky residue that makes cleanup annoying.
  • If your layers start to set too firmly before you can press the next one on top, give the top a gentle warm tap with the back of your spoon to just barely soften the surface so the new layer adheres.
